RIPLEY, W.Va. -- The Alderson Broaddus wrestlers wrapped up the first semester with a 41-13 dual match victory over West Virginia Tech Tuesday night at Ripley High School.

Cody Buchannon got the Battlers started with a pin of Denis Robles-Gomez. Micha Powell accepted a forfeit to put AB out front 12-0.

The Golden Bears answered with a pin at 141 to cut the lead to 12-6. AB's Matt Harris scored a tech fall over Jon Cruse and Keith Stednitz pinned Stephen Beam to push the Battler lead to 23-6.

Brian Ohl kept the Battlers rolling with a pin of Gio Lins sandwiched between a pair of Golden Bear forfeits giving AB a 41-6 advantage. West Virginia Tech scored a major decision at 197 and a decision at 285 to set the final.

"This was a great way to end our first semester with a team title and back to back dual meet wins," said head coach Mitch Smith. "We still have some technical things to clean up going forward, but overall I like our progress thus far."

The Battlers return to action on Jan. 3 when they travel to the Waynesburg Invitational hosted by Waynesburg University.
