Senators Open Up Wrestling Era, Winning Inaugural Match Over Alderson Broaddus 36-12

November 1, 2019

The Wrestling era at Davis & Elkins College began on Friday, with the vision turning to reality in an exciting 36-12 win for the Senators, taking part in the 3rd Annual Hams and Slams Event, hosted by Alderson Broaddus University. Head Coach Jerry Boland's squad showed poise and attitude well beyond that of a first-year program, taking an early lead through the lower weights, and making it insurmountable with wins in the middle weights. Shawn Moore was the first individual winner for the Senators, capitalizing on a late reversal while trailing in the third period for an exciting pin at 125 pounds. Anthony Pencook (149 lbs.) and John Finnerty (157 lbs.) were winners via second period pins. Craig Cook (133 lbs.), Nicholas Natarcola (141 lbs.), Clifton Ruggiero (165 lbs.), and Noah Tarr (174 lbs.) were the other individual winners for D&E, who will return to the mat next Saturday, November 9th at the W&J Invite in Washington, Pa.
