New West Virginia High School Classifications Announced

Schools to be Classified Alphabetically
"We just couldn't find a way to do it by the numbers..."
PARKERSBURG - The SSAC today has announced the new AAA - AA - A classifications for West Virginia High Schools.

The new system will classify schools alphabetically.

"We just couldn't find a fair way to classify schools according to enrollment," the SSAC guy said. "Who's to say if a high school with 620 students in the grades 9-10-11 should be AAA or AA? We just gave up and classified them alphabetically."

Under the new system, high schools beginning with the letter A through I will be classified AAA; schools beginning with the letters J through P will be AA; and schools beginning with the letters R through Z will be single A.

"Seems perfectly fair to us," the SSAC guy said.

Wrestling afficionados expressed concern that the new system will upset the delicate balance in West Virginia wrestling's AAA and AA/A two class system. The SSAC guy noted "Yeah, there are a few quirky things, but it could be worse, right?"
