Blast Rocks Bridgeport

Believed to be related to Youth Wrestling Meeting

Single State Youth Championship Tournament was the topic of discussion

APRIL 1, 2008

A huge explosion of as yet undetermined nature occurred in a popular restaurant in Bridgeport yesterday, destroying over four blocks of the city's congested landscape.

At a press conference late last night, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security stated that the explosion was not terrorist related, but was believed to be related to Youth Wrestling.

"We had intelligence reports that a meeting was being held in Bridgeport at this particular restaurant at the time of the explosion. The topic of discussion was the establishment of a single Youth Wrestling Championship Tournament in West Virginia. We knew it would be a heated discussion, but we never expected things to blow up like this."

Although details of the discussion which occurred at the meeting will probably never be known, many experts believe that the discussion "must have got a little out of hand."

Several years ago, a series of meetings was held in Bridgeport, attended by Youth Wrestling aficionados from across West Virginia. These meetings resulted in the formation of an alternate West Virginia Youth Wrestling Championship tournament, and were known to have generated, in the words of the government spokesman, "a great amount of heat." "For that reason, we have been keeping an eye on Youth Wrestling in West Virginia," the spokesman said.

Reaction among Youth Wrestling Fans in the Mountain State was subdued. One wrestling mother, whose son wrestles for "Team Devil Dog," expressed sadness over the unfortunate event. "I feel bad for the carnage, but life will go on. It's not like it's the end of the world or my son didn't make weight or something serious like that. Hey, what time are weigh-ins Saturday?"

Investigations into the event will continue through this weekend.
