COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (Jan. 12) - Multiple individuals posted tournament wins as the No. 4 Wheeling Jesuit University wrestling team competed at the Will Abele Open hosted by Ursinus College Saturday.

"It was a good team performance for everyone," Head Coach Danny Irwin said. "Frankie Bonura battled through sickness to finish 3rd, Uzi (Devin Uzelac) was pinning everyone like usual & individuals like Logan Adkins are back getting after it which gives us that much more momentum."

Bonura was bounced in the semifinals of the 125 bracket, but managed to earn a fall in the following match to secure third place at the event.

"I thought I wrestled good today even though I was having some breathing problems," Bonura said afterwards. "I could of done better managing the whole situation, but there is always room for improvement and I got to get back to work on Monday. Overall as a team we did great and we need to keep working hard."

"Aidan Pasiuk took out another top ranked opponent," Irwin said. "Everyone was impressed with how he handled practice this week after five grueling matches at National Duals! He was a little beat up coming off of last weekend, but he gave high effort all week which will pay off for him and the team at the end of the year."

Pasiuk was one of six individuals who took home tournament crowns on the day.

"Terrance Fanning needed a late score in the championship match to take out a three-time All-American and runner-up last year. He executed just like we have been working on in the room. Put three solid attacks on the guy rather then forcing a position which led to the match deciding takedown for him."

"Dylan Taylor is starting to figure it out after missing most of last season with an injury. He has a big weekend ahead of him and today should give him that much more confidence heading into it."

"We had a few all Jesuit finals which go along way for the development of the program," Irwin added. "Lots of times you will see a forfeit, but we wanted to see them compete and scrap it out. Everyone has to continue to push like today for us to continue our success!"

The Cardinals will return to dual action on Friday, January 18 when they host No. 22 Mercyhurst in a regional contest at 7 p.m.
