George Takes Individual Mount Union Invitational Title

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Dalton George (Williamstown, West Virginia) took his first tournament title of the season on Saturday at the Mount Union Invitational.  The junior won four matches in the 174 lb. class on his march to the title with one pin and three decisions.

Dalton won the deciding match as he defeated a fellow regional wrestler Damon Greenwald from Seton HIll with a 10-5 decision.  George's pin came in the semifinals when he nailed the shoulders of Clayton Davidson from the host Raiders of Mount Union.

Anthony Tripke 125 lb. (North Port, Florida) had the longest day for the Scots as he lost his first match and had to come all the way back in the consolation bracket to finish sixth on the day.  Tripke won four matches in the middle of the tournament with the most exciting win coming against Campbell's Jose Martinez in double overtime with a score of 6-3.  Tripke's day would end with a loss in the sixth place wrestle off with an eight to five decision.

Freshman T.J. Lambiotte 165 lb. (Mineral Wells, West Virginia) continued his good wrestling early in the season with a 2-2 record.  He would record a technical fall over Anthony Scurry of Mount Union 18-0 and would also win by pin in his third match of the day over Corey Knoth of Bellarmine. 

Samuel Phillips (Parkersburg, West Virginia) was the only other Scot wrestler to win a match on the day as he finished 1-2 for the tournament. Phillip's scored a 12-3 decision over Matt Osborne from Brockport. 

Ali Capobianco Jr. (Albrightsville, Pennsylvania) finished with a 0-2 record.  Zachary Williard (Fredericksburg, Virginia) also participated but was unable to notch a win on the day ending his day at 0-2.

The wrestling team will open up the home dual season this Saturday, November 18th at home against WVU Tech with the first match at the Snyder Activity Center beginning at 1 PM.
