Scots Capture Victory Over Tech

Beckley, W.Va.- Ohio Valley University Wrestling captured their first victory of the 2018-2019 season this evening against West Virginia Institute of Technology. The Fighting Scots were able to come away with the victory by a score of 27-24.
The first weight class of the evening was the 125lbs division. Anthony Tripke was declared winner over Judson McCray in a decision. Tripke was able to accumulate 2:22 of ride time. OVU took the lead in the team score, 3-0.
In the 133lbs class, Dylan Dennison was defeated by Tech's TJ Bean due to a pin. Tech was able to take over the lead after Bean was rewarded six points. Tech led 6-3 after two classes.
Hauoli Caparida represented the Fighting Scots in the 141lbs class but was unable to defeat Logan Robertson due to a technical pin. Tech was awarded five points and extended their lead to 11-3.
Ohio Valley forfeited the 149lbs class, giving Techs Devin Wilhelm the victory. Tech was awarded six points and secured the lead at 17-3.
The Fighting Scots would get back on track due to Samuel Phillips. Phillips would defeat Tech's Clay Fritz due to a pin. Phillips would claim six points for the Scots and cut into Tech's lead 17-9.
Dalton George represented Ohio Valley in the 165lbs class. George was able to defeat Cameron Crislip due to a pin. George and the Scots were awarded six points, cutting West Virginia Tech's lead to two points at 17-15.
Hunter Moore in the 174lbs class would be defeated by Tucker Lawson due to a decision. Lawson and Tech would extend their lead to 20-15.
T.J. Lambiotte would get the Fighting Scots back in the lead in the team score category, with a pin over Mohamed Abdelwahed. The pin would give Ohio Valley a 21-20 lead over Tech.
Tyler Koreski would not be able to keep the lead for the Fighting Scots and would fall due to a decision to Vincent DeVaney. Tech would regain the lead 24-21.
Cameron Coffman would capture victory in the 285lbs class due to a forfeit by Tech. The forfeit would give the Fighting Scots the match by a score of 27-24.
Ohio Valley will now turn their attention to Lourdes University on December 2nd in Sylvania, Pennsylvania.
