Fighting Scots Fall to Battlers 36-9

Vienna, W.Va.- Ohio Valley University Wrestling faced off against the Battlers of Alderson Broaddus this evening in the Snyder Activity Center. The Fighting Scots due to injuries forfeited three weight classes, which was the deciding factor in the 36-9 loss against the Battlers.
Anthony Tripke represented the Fighting Scots in the 125lb weight class. Tripke would go on to win by an 8-5 decision over Breandan Coughlin. Hauoli Caparida was defeated by a pin against Curtis Cox of the Battlers.
Samuel Phillips wrestled in the 157lb weight class against Tyler Bauer. Phillips and Bauer would go to overtime, where Phillips would win with a last-second take-down for a 5-2 decision.
Zachary Willard wrested in the 174lb weight class against Gino Sita. Willard would go on to be pinned at the 4:08 mark.
Hunter Moore and Josh Daily wrested in the 184lb weight class, Moore would go on to give OVU the final victory of the match in a 7-3 decision.
Tyler Koreski would bump-up a weight class to heavyweight to take on Jared Burgonyne of the Battlers. Koreski would make it to the 3:46 make before suffering a pin by Burgonyne.
OVU will now prepare for the NCAA Super Region II on February 22nd in Hartsville, South Carolina.
