Tripke Competes at Nationals

CLEVELAND, OHIO- Anthony Tripke represented Ohio Valley University Wrestling at the 2019 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships this weekend. Tripke who placed second in the Super Region to earn a spot in the 125 lb weight class at Nationals.

Tripke's first match of the day was against No. 2 Brett Velasquez of St. Cloud State. Velasquez and Tripke battled until the second round when Tripke would be pinned by Velasquez at the 4:16 mark.

Tripke looked to rebound and continue in the tournament with a victory against Brandon Lucas of Bellarmine. Unfortunately for Tripke, Lucas defeated Tripke in an 11-8 decision, knocking Tripke out of the tournament.

Anthony Tripke was the third wrestler in program history to qualify for the national tournament joining the ranks of Dalton George (2x), and Chase Long (2x). The 2019 appearance marks the fifth time nine season the Fighting Scots have been represented in the national tournament.
