Re: AA/A Bear Tracks - Week Ending Dec 8
Wonder how many state champions aren't on your list at this time? Are their coaches sandbagging?

Re: Mike Ellis Results
Correct aacoach126. Each individual coach needs to post their team scores. Also, I really don't think that a high school wrestler can go 7-0 in a one day duals tourney in the state of WV. You are correct. We had a few wrestlers officially go 5-0 at this tournament from Nitro but had an exhibition o...

Re: Liberty Raider Rumble Results
That is Awesome!! A very similar thing happened in Hurricane (Mike Ellis Invitational) this past Saturday. I do not know the names of both wrestlers involved but there was a standing ovation from the crowd when the special needs young man was victorious!

Re: Seed Meeting
Who is talking about weight allowance? We just want a good turnout of wrestlers... There only appears to be 5 or less in many brackets. What is your concern and how is that important?

Re: WVYWA Regions
I think what we are experiencing has multiple causes and not a single root cause. Agree with almost everything being said. It will take some brainstorming and reasonable analysis for us to improve youth and middle school wrestling in West Virginia. It is only year 2 of this venture, but this may nee...

Re: WVYWA Regions
Region change is more within the Associations control and could be implemented quickly. It can also be "right sized" again in the future. I'm sorry but nobody should pay $20 to negotiate exhibition matches because their kid was the only entry in that class. The long term goal should always...

WVYWA Regions
I plan on volunteering time to the WVYWA and one of the first things I want to discuss is the current number of regions. We will see how many wrestlers attend tomorrow but it was pretty scarce in just about every weight class, today. Round Robins and Two out Threes was the bracket norm at region 5. ...

Re: Wvywa 12 yr olds
The advantage was that they saw more difficult competition wrestling varsity as a 12 year old, wrestled stronger/older kids throughout the season, and depending where you go to school, better coaching. However, I realize not every middle school has great coaching. Anyway, you can't tell me that tha...

I took pictures myself before even looking at the picture packages. That was not required. Not sure why some experiences were different but I can understand the frustration.

Re: Wvywa 12 yr olds
I witnessed this with several wrestlers this past weekend at Jr. States. I know there was a 13-15 and 11-12 age group and you had to wrestle your age... but the 12 year olds that I know of who wrestle Middle School Varsity during the season had a distinct advantage over the other kids in their weig...

Re: JR. States Podium Photos
We were allowed to take great pictures of our kids on the podium. We also ordered the biggest package available from the photographer. Not sure why you were not allowed to take pictures? I noticed many parents doing the same thing. And the tournament was run very well, again, and has been a mainstay...

Re: Wvywa 12 yr olds
Has this rule been confirmed? I have 12 yr old 7th grader and he is wrestling 11-12 at Jr States. Why would a 12 yr old 6th grader be allowed to wrestle 11-12 at WVYWA but not a 12 yr old 7th grader? Because I didn't hold my kid back a year when he was ready for Kindergarten? I am missing the logic ...

Re: Regional seeding
Based on the quality of the website and the inability to get results even from the qualifiers during the season, I would not expect results from the regionals anytime soon. I hate to be negative, but I have had to set my expectations low with this new organization. The one positive, though, is that ...

Re: WVYWA Regionals
We decided to skip both this weekend. My 11 yr old has great memories of Jr States and was always proud of his championships he won there. We live in Charleston and are not from Wood County. Call it an open tournament, if you like, but he always had better competition there than anywhere else in the...
