Re: Pill 2 - A Semifinal Extravaganza
One of them didn’t win their region. Only way that happens. I will also add that the rankings are just a tool and cannot predict future results. A seeding meeting is only a tool. Trackwrestling is only a tool. A Pill is only a tool. The rulebook is only a tool. We need to use all tools needed for t...

Wouldn’t that make one of them not in the top 2?

Re: AAA Region Team Battle
The loss of their 285 pounder will have more of an impact at the state tournament. It most likely just switched to University placing 3rd instead of second and Park moving up to second in that weight class. However, that's a 6 point swing that would have made things even tighter. Interestingly the ...

Re: Regional Seeding
Based on history and based on what is happening today, all regional seeding meetings are happening on different days of the week. They should be required to be held on the same date and here is why. Bugtussle High School of Region 5 has two hammers that nobody is going to beat. At the end of the se...

Re: Regional Seeding Criteria
My best guess is Childers didn’t lose head to head to Bush at B10, and has beat someone this year who Bush lost to, so they had no head to head and each had a common opponent win over each other? Neither placed at states (at least not last year). Childers top seed based on season win/loss record? T...

Re: Big 10 Conference Tournament
Bearhugger, I disagree that conference tournaments mean more than a get together, especially in the LKC. This conference has rich and proud existence, one of the earliest and longest running conference tournaments in WV. Years past, if you were in the finals of this event, you were one of the state...

At a quad. Wrester A wrestles wrestler B and wrestler C. But injury forfeits against wrestler D. I’m seeding criteria for an upcoming tournament who has the seeding at said tournament A or D? It is an individual tournament but through that you place in your regional tournament as ...

Re: Big 10 Conference Tournament
Just trying to get a grasp of WV HS wrestling. Conference has nothing to do with AAA and AA/A? For instance, Bridgeport and Preston are AAA but in a conference with AA/A schools? Does this conference tournament have any relation to post season seedings? If so, how if you have AAA schools I may be s...

Re: AAA State Tournament MOW
Is that because 182 has 5 plus guys who could win it? If that is the case, there are other really tough weight classes too. 138 and 145 are pretty solid as well. I don't think we can forget about those weight classes. I may have missed it but has University and Spring Mills wrestled at 145? 138 has ...

Re: Bear Tracks Preseason 2021-2022 Overview
Bear Tracks 2021 – 2022 Overview: Wrestlers are ranked based how they finished in last season’s state tournament. A Champion ranks higher than a runner up and so on. Non-placing wrestlers are rewarded based on the number of matches they win. A “Q2” is a wrestler that made it to the blood round and ...

Re: Folkstyle - The King of Styles
I have seen a few comments on Facebook where some folks think we should do away with Folkstyle and concentrate on Freestyle. The USA had more Olympic medals (9) than any other country. All of these Olympic wrestlers began in folkstyle. I recall one of the Brands brothers saying in an interview that...

I am all for a better system of ranking than the coaches' polls. If I remember correctly weren't the collegiate level talking about the same thing this season? Re: Is it time for WV wrestling to go to one true Champion
Like the state of New Jersey?? It’d be much more exciting and it’s make it a lot harder to win a title. Seems to be a lot of four timers recently than there ever was. Just looking for opinions is all. Quality of wrestling may increase but I think there will be a negative impact on participation. Th...

Re: Finals Matchups
No ones questioning his credentials or talent. He looked like the #2 in the weight class. Pointing out his loss to Hurst wasn’t meant to suggest otherwise. The point was that even with seeding criteria he may have still ended up on Dolans side of the bracket, despite looking like the 2nd best wrest...

AAA 126
This bracket is so solid from top to bottom. Looking at talent from each spot, it'd be hard to argue there is a tougher weight class or has been in a few years. Congratulations to all making to this grinder of a bracket. It is going to be fun to watch next week.

Be careful not putting that Wright kid in. People will jump your rankings for that. Also that Velas jump from 106? To 148. I’d put money on him moving sooner rather than later. Plus the Park result didn’t have Gooch as far as I could remember. Wonder if he makes 48 for them in the future or what’s g...

He’s the national champ freshman right? May have missed him.
You think he’s top 3? I don’t know. He may be. I’ve never seen him wrestle. I’ve also never claimed to be a wv wrestling expert. Maybe if it’s so comical you can put together you’re own which would be more informative.

Re: 2020-2021 Preview- AAA grouped rankings
What does it matter how many times you’ve looked at it? It’s a different way of looking at things. 1. There’s usually a “preseason” ranking system and there’s half of the people complaining that “it’s too early”, “you don’t know where they’ll end up weight class wise”, etc. I just lumped them togeth...

I know what you mean about kids using injury time to catch their breath. But I wonder if increasing the incentive to injure an opponent would result in more opponents being injured. Re: Rule Changes: Injury Time
I believe High School wrestling needs to adopt college rules when it comes to injury time. Non-injured wrestler will receive choice of top, bottom, or neutral after first injury time is called. Second injury time, non-injured wrestler is awarded 1 point. Third injury time, match is terminated, non-...
