Checking out the AAA brackets and seeing kids with over 65 matches on their record. They could not have gotten a lot at regionals because the brackets were not that large (Bearhugger made sure I knew that! LOL) I know when I coached I was able to get my kids just over 50 per season by attending main...

Instead of reducing to two regions ... Let's work together to attract more wrestlers to this great sport and fill four regions with full brackets.

Here's an example Hinzman, Holley and Lanham all in the same class ranked 1-2-3. Think about the poor kid who draws the 3rd place guy from this region and thinks "Well, the kid was third in his region ... how good can he be?" LOL.

The little kids are there if you look hard enough and no competition with football or basketball...

But single elimination with follow the leader at least partially solves that. If the guy who beats you wins you are still in, if he loses you are out. So if you get an unlucky computer draw against a monster and he wins his next match you get another match. We did this at WSAZ for a number of years.

I take an opposite view ... Let everyone wrestle at State. If we can do the WSAZ Invitational with way more than twice as many wrestlers (counting middle school as well) in two days with 64 man brackets and even pigtails off of those) then ... Surely we could do the state in three days. Just do away...

Maybe it should have been -9 but the ref said -7 and at that point I just wanted to get my kids out of there safely and was praying none of our parents and their parents got into it so I was not going to argue the point. Maybe the ref had not awarded them all when he stopped the match, I don't know....
