Danny Felix clinic this weekend
Danny Felix will be at the Independence high school wrestling room on Saturday 10/26 and Sunday 10/27. We were lucky enough to find a gap in his schedule and Also very fortunate to have it timed only weeks before the season begins. We are expecting several of the top high school and middle school gu...

Danny is ready to roll. Most of the Indy high and middle school wrestlers will be in attendance. Numerous state and wsaz placers as well as jr state champions. Iron sharpens iron!

That’s impressive. A bad dude with a 4.0 gpa to match. Tough to get in the academy your first try. Fine job young man!

What’s gonna happen is gonna happen and there isn’t a thing we can do to change it. I stick by the proven formula that Mr Archer has used with success for many years. Personally, I respect a kid that can lose a tough match early and have the guts to battle back and earn a hard earned 3rd over a seco...

Another issue, how is coach Jeremy Hart, or one of the smartest men I know in the sport of wrestling, Dave Hart, Bonecutter, (defending coach of the year) Anthony Regalbutto, Coach Smith from South, not on this board? Is this an elected committee? That’s 2 Dutton award winners that I know for a fac...

Re: Anyone scheduling an alternative to WSAZ?
Honestly, I can see the beast of the east quality type tournament in Huntington in the next 5 years. This year we have Virginia powerhouse Christiansburg coming and trust me they have 4-5 bad dudes that will shake up the final standings. I believe in the next 5 years the WSAZ tournament will be a to...

The undoubtedly fact of the matter is that this pill can be moved to benefit a coaches committee wrestler. Leave it the way it was please? No system or tournament is without its flaws but it’s not a broken system so we can’t fix fix it. My son though broken and battered has eventually ran into the s...

Re: New State Tournament format
I don't think the above example is actually the issue. If Cruickshanks beat Gibson at the regionals, with that being the most recent event before the state, then heading into the state Cruickshanks had the right to be ranked ahead of him. Rankings are merely what they are and outcomes neither prove...

Re: New State Tournament format
My concern is this. There is no such thing as perfectly identifying the top 2 "ranked" wrestlers prior to states with a ranking system. 2019's AA/A 160 is a prime example of this. Feb 8 rankings: 1st Whiting, 2nd Gibson, 3rd Cruickshanks Feb 15 rankings: 1st Whiting, 2nd Cruickshanks, 3rd...

Re: New State Tournament format
Just so there's no confusion, there is not going to be any seeding from what was written. Secondly, the only change that will be made appears to be shifting one of the other two 4 man "sections" of the brackets randomly via an "alternate pill" if the original pill paired up the ...

Re: New State Tournament format
With basically 8 regions and 28 weight classes (a/aa and aaa) gonna be tricky to perfect. I like the old system as a whole over seeding. Keeps opinions and politics out of the sport. If it isn’t broken, you can’t repair it.

Perdue weighed out today at 121.4 in PA. Gonna be 120 maximum but more than likely 113. For the first time in a year and a half he has no metal in his legs, both meniscus and ac ligaments repaired and putting in 25 miles every week. Also Adams is not 152... The weight room has been good to him.

Maybe child A is born into a wealthy family and child B is from a working class family with 8 brothers and sisters. I am a firm believer i...

One thing I love about wrestling is all the Great Sportsmanship that this sport has. But at this tournament Indy really showed their butts. Kids leaving the mat without shaking the opponents coaches hand is uncalled for. Indy kid coming off the podium and smashing their plaque. This is just not a b...

I’m wondering what seeding criteria they used? Definitely not what the have posted. Seems like I read a post about wrestlers and easy routes. Maybe we should look deeper into the seeding to see who doesn’t like deep water.

I don’t blame one single word on bearhugger. My reasoning in this decision would honestly fall on each and every program in general. Hugger, has a way of infililitrating programs and letting their competition know exactly what’s happening on the other side of the lines. Loose lipped parents and all ...

Mr Gator, I am also a firm believer in the rankings system and other than not having the last name (Hart/Warden/Snuffer/Adams/Bolen), gator is my favorite name in high school wrestling. “BUT” I’m with popajoe, and JW 100% on this one in believing these rankings are (for the most part) obserd. Hugger...

You have a free move from middle to high school as long as it is in your county and approved by the board of education. I never really understood why a coach or parent would challenge the eligibility of a student trying to get to college on a scholarship, doing a sport they they love. I guarantee it...

Our coaches will not win a match like that. You can't continue and you still toe that line and FF the match. An illegal slam is a judgment call and not one person from any county in the state that saw that match that I've spoken with thought the slam was illegal. Integrity! Well it seems as though ...

The "illegal" slam that cost Noah Adams a 4th state championship was terrible.
