If Simpkins beats Berisford,I think they meet in the finals. That was a big loss for him in Region 1.

This bracket is the worst in the tournament. There will be someone going home that would place if seeded.

Pine v. Simpkins, and Casto v. Starkey in the bottom half Quarters. Then, the winners of those two in the semi's. 170AAA is loaded.

Yep. Pine, Simpkins, Casto, and Starkey... One of them will not place with the way the bracket fell. But if Simpkins and Starkey won regionals it’s not a discussion.

I don't think you can call this the worst bracket.
160 Carman vs Hollie(CM) or Jayvon Hall(GW) in the quarters and the winner faces Clayton Stewart (Huntington) in the semis.
As far as rankings in the bracket.
4 wrestles 5 first round.
2nd round could be 4 or 5 vs 2(Quarter Finals)
3rd round count be 2,4, or 5 vs 3(Semi Finals)
There will definitely someone going home who would place if seeded.

Actually, i am pretty sure all of those kids are going to have an excellent shot to place. Loser of 4 v 5 will have a good draw down low, as will quarters kid cause he’ll go to opposite side of bracket. Looks like they all got really favorable draws! Thank God for pill!

195: Swisher (Hamp) v Fischer (CM)

Winner will most likely wrestler Loew (WP) in the semis.

I guess I don't understand what the big deal is with calling the brackets the worst ever?? College coaches don't ask whether or not you got a bad draw at the WV states nor do they care about whether or not you placed in the top 8 of WV. They ask where you placed at Super 32, Fargo, TOC, Ironman, Poweraid. They also asked what camps are you going to over the summer, and what colleges are you being recruited by. They don't ask how lop sided was the bracket.... Just wrestle, if you think the bracket is the worst you have ever saw maybe you can stand on the steps of the WVSSAC in Parkersburg and hold a sign on Thursday and Friday then volenteer your time to help them make the sport better next year... Just like K Dunbar said "everybody is ready to complain but not very many are ready to step up and help the change". Stop complaining and just wrestle.

You call it complaining while some call it a discussion. What a perfect place to do it but on a forum about wrestling. If you dont understand the big deal with the lopsided brackets then your not paying attention very well.

My take on the 170 bracket is a question. Would there still be complaining if Starkey beat Parde & Simpkins beat Berrisford? We are calling it stacked, and it clearly is, but would we change our perception to just having good solid matches is the seeds at Regionals were held? I think it is good for the sport and good for states as these spots, this draw, was earned in competition and not by choice.
If there was seeding, I think you only would seed the four champions to keep guys considered higher seed worthy on opposite semis. In this sense, and in my opinion, you would have 1. Pine 2. Casto 3. Parde, 4. Berrisford, leaving Starkey and Simpkins very dangerous in the quarters.
Very true & quite likely that two out of that bottom, Pine, Starkey, Simpkins, and Casto will meet in the blood round and one of them will go home empty handed.

Interesting first round match between Smithson from BU vs Burdette from Ripley. Both placed at 132lbs last year with Burdette winning a 5-0 decision.

It's not that big a deal. Two of them are down there because they lost at regionals. It's not like this is 4 regional champions on the same side of the bracket.

Miller v Dunbar = why we need seeding.

Interesting to see AA 138, the four in the semis are all from region 1

Why we don't need seeding. The pill gives us early round matchups worth the admission.
