Actually, that is 157. Bush is ranked over Bennett in the state and ranked below Bennett in the region. This is what I call a Ranking Cluster "Formation" or RCF. The RCF can also stand for other terms but we will not go there.

Here is the deal:

1. December 10th, Bush was ahead and in control of the match and got thrown and pinned by Bennett. That is wrestling.

2. Grafton Duals approximately December 28th, Zombro beats Bennett. The word on the street is it was a 3 to 2 match.

3. National Guard Duals January 6th, Bush defeats Zombro 10 to 9.

This creates a Ranking Cluster Formation. Bennett beats Bush. Zombro beats Bennett. Bush beats Zombro.

Using the logic of "who is winning now", Bush got the nod for the state ranking. When you take Zombro out at the regional level, it is a clear cut head to head, so Bennett gets the nod.

Bear Tracks is the only ranking entity that provides state level and regional level rankings. This level of detail creates the kind of situations that cause seeding meetings to go on for hours.

Since these rankings have come out, Zombro defeated Bennett a second time 13 to 8 January 14th.

Bush and Bennett should hit each other on January 18th for the AA/A Region 2 Quad. If Bush wins, the picture becomes more clear. If Bennett wins, then we will have a bigger RCF.

The next question becomes "how do you select a clear #1 and #2 at 157". Returning state champion Woyan of Point Pleasant is the number 1 at AA/A 157. However, he has yet to wrestle any of these guys. How does the coaches' committee select a clear cut 2?

I am sure everybody has a plan and the criteria is documented and ready.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bennett defeated Bush in the rematch.

Braxton came in first and Lewis County came in second. Both schools will represent AA/A Region 2 at the WV State Duals.
