All I can tell you is Midland is 4-0 heading into the last dual of the night. In a side note Midland's HWT Hunter Hicks is 4-0 all pins including a first round fall over #1 Ranked Mitchell Powers of Morgantown.

Where did Hicks come from? CM has been forfeiting 285 all season long. I knew as big as CM is, they had to have plenty of boys (and girls) walking around at 285.

Mchaels (east fairmont) at 152 beat Farrell from Fayetteville (fall) hovermale from Berkeley Springs fall and Clark from shady springs 4 to 2. Farrell beat hovermale 8 to 1 and Clark 5 to 1.

Hicks is from Milton. He wrestled a little middle school and last year at Midland. Lineman on the football team. Not a huge heavyweight but strong, agile and quick. Nice kid and good student. Mom teaches at Milton. Wrestles much like a 195 but weighs HWT despite not carrying much body fat. Sophomore I think, best wrestling is ahead of him.

I don't understand this tournament not accepting the coachs courtesy passes.... with the amount of entry fee and the spectator $7 fee 2 days it is ridiculous. As a coach this should be standard. .. greedy will destroy your tournament.

When I was coaching it was printed right on the coaches card that it had to be accepted at all events other than the state tournament. I guess things have changed. One thing that probably led to this (just guessing) was teams asking for coaches passes for scorekeepers, mat maids, photogs, etc. I know they had to shut that down at WSAZ and limit it to head and asst. coach only. Not sure since I am not there but it's a shame things can't be worked out. Life was much simpler back in this Old Coache's tenure!

Inaccurate post on Ferrel beating Clark 5-1. It was 3-2 and Clark beat Hovermale 4-1

I experienced the opposite today at Ripley. $5 to get in and a hot dog was only a dollar. No extra charge for chili.

I thought they had to accept WVSSAC coaching cards at sanctioned events.

North Myrtle Beach just left without wrestling their last match. We sat here for 2 hrs waiting on match. They should not be invited back next year.

Wonder why Independence was not at this event?

They were at the Norfolk Duals. Very competitive.

I think Indy is scared to wrestle in WVa.

scared independence has a very competitive schedule. they started out with the lake norman duels in n.c. where went 5-0. then places 2nd at the us airforce classic in tn. they had 11 placers and 3 champs and # 6 aaa phs placed 8th. they were 4th at the costal clash in s.c. with 6 placers and 1 champ. oh and by the way # 8 point pleasant placed 13th. Jan 2nd they had a quad at phs and beat # 6 aaa phs 42-29, and aaa wp 47-19 and also beat riverbend. va there. this weekend they went 2-2 in the tough va. duels. we'll see how scared independece is at the wsaz on 1 /22-23. my guess in not very scared.

Everybody should be glad Independence has been wrestling so much out of state. This has prevented many losses on many wrestlers' records.

Where has Jacob Hart of Independence been lately? Is he injured?

Truesouthfaninpburg........I'd say Frank was being sarcastic if I were a betting man. I don't think Indy fears too many opponents. Also, I believe that Jacob has a very unfortunate knee injury.

Looks like we were both wrong, posted on the results as 5 to 2 Farrell over Clark.

Jacob Hart injured his knee. Don't know when he will be back. As far as Indy being afraid to wrestle in WV, I'll let their back to back state championships speak for itself.

Noticed that he hadn't wrestled for some time. Hope he gets to return to the mat soon. Best wishes Jacob.
