Question?

Can a wrestler on top just keep digging his chin in his opponents back. I was at a tournament a couple of weekends ago and saw this. He was not trying to do any moves or anything. He just kept digging his chin in and had a couple of boys really hurting. Is this a legal move.

Good question. Seeing this more and more but have also seen refs call and give points on excessive chining.

My son uses his chin quite often, but only when kids refuse to wrestle on bottom. When they ball up and not move got to get them to open up somehow. If they don't like it they will eventually open up. Now not doing a move is one thing, but when you try over and over and the kid just turtles and for some reason refs haven't called stalking. Not sure if it's because they are younger or not. Regardless start moving on bottom.

using the chin for punishment is unnecessary roughness. penalty, 1 point. if you do not rub the chin in his back, its ok. but chin in back and not doing anything is stalling. one warning and then 1 point for each stalling call after that warning. hope this helps.
