Today I watched wrestlers from last season's HIGH SCHOOL state tournament wrestle for Glenville. I could see improvement in these young men since last April.
I saw a head coach stay engaged in every match.
The Glenville Athletic Director walked through the stands and gave everybody a free bottle of water.
I saw Glenville shut out Fairmont State and also defeat nationally ranked Campbellsville.
When not wrestling, the team was watching their teammate on the mat or a few were warming up. I didn't see anybody on their cellphones.
The vast majority of the Glenville team are WV wrestlers. It made watching that much more entertaining.
It doesn't matter what level the wrestling occurs at. Good coaches find a way to raise the level of performance of the team they have. Good ADs support the teams.
Today was fun! Go watch Glenville! I guess I will have to drive back up here and watch Glenville vs WVU.
