Parkersburg High School had the first West Virginia state championship wrestling team in 1948, and has stayed at or near the top ever since. The Big Reds have fielded 21 state championship teams, 153 individual state champs, 30 High School All-Americans, and 11 outstanding wrestler awards at the state tournament.
