Roane County High School School

Raider -- Wrestling

2021 Schedule AT THIS LINK

Roane County High School is a product of consolidation between Spencer (AA) and Walton (A) high schools in 1993. Roane County has a rich wrestling history, primarily through the years of Spencer High School. After consolidation, National Hall of Fame Coach Garry Bender and assistant Terry Kendall (also Hall of Fame) coached the first Raider teams until turning the program over to Wayne Jarvis in 2007. Current Athletic Director, Toby Ford, was assistant with Jarvis for a number of years. Other coaches to have helped at Roane have been David Satterfield, Mike Roberts, and Sam Whiting. John McIntyre has been Assistant Coach now for several years.

Every coach involved in the program since Bender has won 1 or more individual state titles in both AA and AAA. Jarvis has coached 13 individual state title winners and 11 runners-up, including back-to-back Dutton Award winners Josh Fisher and Dylan Cottrell.

Roane/Spencer holds claim to 5 4-time champs. Roane's highest team finish was 2nd in 2016.
