West Liberty Sinks No. 20 Shippensburg

The West Liberty wrestling team posted a pair of impressive victories in a triangular meet Saturday afternoon at the Hilltoppers' ASRC.
Coach Brian Davis' hosts opened with a 37-9 romp against Carson Newman and capped the day by handing No. 20-ranked Shippensburg a 26-13 setback.
West Liberty improved its dual meet record to 7-4 on the season and has now won five of its last six.
Nick Wykoff (133 pounds), Doug Surra (141), Jarrod Shaw (165) and Mitch Knapp (184) each picked up a pair of wins to key the Hilltopper sweep.
Wykoff beat Carson-Newman's Leonard Drummond, 4-2, and hung a 10-2 major decision on Shippensburg's Justin Morris.
Surra scored a 13-4 major decision against Carson-Newman's Zane Sary and downed Tom Wiechelt of Shippensburg by a 3-1 count.
Shaw decisioned Brett Shields of Carson-Newman, 7-3, and held off Shippensburg's Jake Wilson, 6-4.
Knapp had the only fall of the day when he stopped Carson-Newman's Marcus Lopez just 48 seconds into their 184-pound match. Knapp's second win came by injury default when Shippensburg's Jon Hade could not finish his match.
West Liberty closes out its home schedule with a dual meet against No. 14 Ashland on Saturday. The first match is set for a 7 p.m. start.
