Hilltoppers Busy This Summer

The Hilltoppers of West Liberty State College (reportedly soon to be West Liberty University) look to keep the edge this summer by participating in some top-notch wrestling tournaments. West Lib will be sending a healthy representation to the ASICS University & FILA Cadet National Championships April 23-26 at the Louis and Freda Stile Athletic Field House at the University of Akron in Akron Ohio.

Competing in Akron will be former West Virginia High School standouts now on Coach Brian Davis' Hilltopper squad including:
Mitch Smith- D-II All-American (4th) Upcoming Team captain/senior. Ripley High School
Brian Legget- West Lib starter. Parkersburg High School
Derrick Williams- Red Shirt Freshman. Herbert Hoover High School
Mike Carpenter- Started Heavyweight until season ending injury. Liberty Raleigh High School

West Liberty hopes to keep up the intensity, coming off a successful 2008-09, highlighted by a D-II National Championship for Doug Surra at 141, and a fourth place finish/All-American honors for Mitch Smith at 157.
