WEST LIBERTY THUMPS EAST STROUDSBURG AT MID-ATLANTIC DUALS

ASHLAND, Ohio A convincing 28-13 victory against No. 19 East Stroudsburg highlighted the No. 15 West Liberty University wrestling teams day at Saturdays inaugural Mid-Atlantic Duals.
Hilltopper All-American Mitch Knapp was named Most Outstanding Wrestler at the event, which was held in the Kates Gymnasium on the campus of Ashland University.
Knapp, ranked No. 3 nationally at 197 pounds, more than lived up to his advance billing with a decision, a major decision and a first-period fall in his three matches.
After opening with the win against East Stroudsburg, the West Liberty team dropped a 26-10 verdict to No. 18 Ashland and came out on the short end of a 34-10 score against Gannon.
Seth Phalen also went unbeaten on the day for the Hilltoppers.
Phalen, a senior ranked No. 4 nationally at 157 pounds, matched Knapp with a decision, a major decision and a first-period fall.
West Liberty goes back on the road Saturday for a triangular meet with Kutztown (Pa.) and Seton Hill at Kutztown.
