No. 13 Hilltoppers Trounce Ohio Valley

January 10, 2012

VIENNA, W.Va. – The No. 13-ranked West Liberty University wrestling team kept right on rolling Tuesday night, breezing to a 32-15 victory against Ohio Valley University at the Fighting Scots' Snyder Activities Center.

With forfeits at the first four weight classes, there were only six matches actually contested on the mat and Coach Brian Davis's Hilltoppers (6-1) won five of them.

Jarrod Shaw got things started with a first-period fall at 157 pounds and Jordan Nolan followed with a decision at 165.

Matt Littleton posted an 18-9 major decision against Justin Smith in the 174-pound match and Derrick Williams pulled out a 5-4 nod at 184.

Jake Donley dropped a tough 3-2 decision at 197 as Ohio Valley (1-2) avoided a sweep by the nationally-ranked Hilltoppers but West Liberty heavyweight JD Ramsey finished with a flourish, pitching a 13-0 shutout for a major decision in the final match of the night.

The Hilltopper mat squad heads to Ashland University on Sunday for the Mid-Atlantic Duals.
