No. 14 WLU Wrestlers Are Runners-Up at Mid-Atlantic Duals

ASHLAND, Ohio – The No. 14-ranked West Liberty University wrestling team claimed runner-up honors at Sunday's second annual Mid-Atlantic Duals, hosted by Ashland University.
The host Eagles, ranked No. 18 nationally, won their own tournament for the second straight year as the only team to win all three of its matches. Ashland downed Coach Brian Davis's Hilltoppers, 34-7, in the final match of the day. No. 11 King (Tenn.) was third while the University of Indianapolis finished fourth in the 8-team event.
West Liberty breezed to double-digit victories in its other two matches on Sunday. The Hilltoppers opened the tournament with a 26-10 romp past East Stroudsburg before kicking off the afternoon session with a 22-12 win against Indianapolis.
Jarrod Shaw led the way for West Liberty. The regionally-ranked 157-pound standout was the Hilltoppers' only three-time winner on the day. Freshman 149-pounder Art Hobley had a technical fall and a major decision in his first two matches but lost by medical forfeit in his final match.
Other two-time winners for the Black and Gold included Nick Wykoff (141), Jordan Nolan (165), Matt Littleton (174), Jake Donley (197) and JD Ramsey (285).
Now 8-2 in dual meets, the Hilltoppers head to Pitt-Johnstown on Friday for the opening rounds of the East Coast Duals. The two-day tournament concludes on Saturday.
