No. 14 West Liberty Grapplers Rout East Stroudsburg

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The No. 14-ranked West Liberty University wrestling team opened the final day of the Super Region One Duals with a 39-9 rout of East Stroudsburg on Saturday morning before closing with its only loss of the tournament, a 33-12 setback at the hands of North Carolina-Pembroke.
Combined with the Hilltoppers' impressive 27-15 victory against American International on Friday night, Saturday's results gave West Liberty a 2-1 record in the tournament and pushed the Hilltoppers' season mark to a sparkling 10-3 in dual meets.
Coach Brian Davis's Hilltoppers had an easy time of it against ESU, picking up four forfeit wins and a first-period fall by 165-pounder Nate Hupp to overwhelm the Pennsylvania squad. Dillon Nolte (133), Matt Littleton (174) and Derrick Williams (184) added decisions to round out the Black-and-Gold scoring.
The West Liberty team had to run right back out on the mat for its second match of the day against a UNC-Pembroke squad that hadn't wrestled since the previous evening and the Braves took full advantage.
The Hilltoppers' only wins were a Joey Wagstaff forfeit at 125 pounds and a pair of decisions by Littleton and heavyweight J.D. Ramsey.
West Liberty returns home to host Findlay (Ohio) on Friday in a 7 p.m. match at the ASRC.
