West Liberty Wrestlers Drop Home Finale

February 17, 2015

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University wrestling team came up short in its final dual meet of the season, dropping a 34-9 decision to Seton Hill on Tuesday night at the ASRC.

Coach Brian Davis' injury-riddled Hilltoppers started out in a 12-0 hole due to forfeits at 149 and 197 and the Griffins put the match on ice early by winning the first five bouts on the mat.

Eric Antesberger put West Liberty on the board with a convincing 8-2 win against Brett Smith at 174 pounds.

Hilltopper heavyweight Aaron Silverio finished with a flourish for the Black and Gold, notching a second-period fall against SHU's Alex Soutiere in their 285-pound finale.

The West Liberty squad will have a few days to heal before hosting the NCAA Division II Super Regional next weekend. The two-day event will be held at the ASRC on Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28.
