CLEVELAND, Ohio – Corey Secrist won the 125-pound title and eight members of the West Liberty University wrestling squad placed at Sunday's Ohio Intercollegiate Open in the Veale Field House on the campus of Case Western Reserve University.

Head coach Mitch Smith saw three of his Hilltoppers battle their way into the championship match in their weight class with Secrist bringing home the 125-pound crown with a hard-fought 8-7 win against Tiffin's Bruce Hrynciw in the championship match.

Darius Bunch almost gave WLU a sweep of the first two weight classes as the West Liberty sophomore battled Ohio University's Kyran Hagan to the wire before dropping a 2-0 decision in the 133-pound title tilt. True freshman Chase Morgan powered his way into the 174-pound championship match only to come up short against Ashland's Christian Price.

Logan Kemp was third in the 197-pound weight class with a 9-5 win against Notre Dame's Logan Hall in their Third-Place match. Steven Slack gave West Liberty two placers in the 125-pound division, finishing fourth with a 5-0 setback against Pitt's Matt Siszka in the Third-Place match.

Chance Morgan, Chase's twin brother, was fifth at 184 pounds. Morgan edged Chris Cook, 6-5, in an all-Hilltopper Fifth-Place match. Tanner Sutton lost his first match of the day at 149 pounds but battled back through the consolation brackets to close out the Black and Gold's placers with a sixth place finish.

Coach Smith and his WLU mat squad hit the road again on Saturday when they compete in the Findlay Open.
