WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University wrestling team dropped a 36-6 decision to No. 14-ranked Ashland (Ohio) Saturday afternoon at the ASRC.

The visiting Eagles swept the first four matches to jump out to a 16-0 lead and Coach Mitch Smith's Hilltoppers were unable to fight their way back into contention.

Veterans Josh Cornell and Logan Kemp continued to provide bright spots for the Black and Gold.

Cornell, a three-year senior letterman from Oak Glen (W.Va.) High School, put the Hilltoppers on the board with a convincing 7-1 decision against Ashland's Cody Woods at 157 pounds.

Kemp, a junior from Centerville, Ohio and the No. 9-ranked 197-pounder in the nation, coasted to a 7-5 decision over the Eagles' Peter Abraham for West Liberty's other victory on the afternoon.

The Hilltoppers return to tournament action next weekend when they head to Indianapolis to compete in the mammoth Midwest Classic, hosted by the University of Indianapolis.
