KEHLER WINS LAS VEGAS INVITATIONAL
TEAM FINISHES WITH 45 POINTS

PRIMM, Nev. (December 4) -- West Virginia heavyweight wrestler Ryan Kehler won the Las Vegas Invitational this past weekend in Primm, Nev. Overall, the team finished 16th.

Seeded eighth in the heavyweight bracket, the junior from Klingerstown, Pa., upped his overall record to 12-0 on the year after he defeated four ranked opponents to win his first Las Vegas Invitational. In the finals, he defeated Oregon State's Jason Cooley by way of a medical forfeit. Kehler defeated Illinois' John Lockhart in the semifinals 3-2. Lockhart, a returning All-American, was ranked No. 2 in the nation. Kehler then defeated EWL rival, Edinboro's Josh Pearce 3-1 in overtime in the semifinals. Pearce was ranked No. 12.

Junior Joe Carr placed fifth in the 157 pound weight class after going 5-2 in the tournament. The tournament was his first action of the season.

The Mountaineers are back in action at Clarion for the first EWL dual meet of the season, Thursday, December 7, at 7:30 p.m.
