MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (January 24, 2002) - The 12th-ranked West Virginia University wrestling team (4-2) is set to host a pair of dual meets this weekend. The Mountaineers will take on Virginia (1-4) Friday, January 25, at 7:30 p.m. and then return to the mat Saturday, January 26, at 5 p.m. against Buffalo (3-4). Both matches will be in the WVU Coliseum.

The Mountaineers lead the all-time series 11-1 against Virginia, but the two schools have not met since 1986. WVU began the series with Buffalo last year, which the Mountaineers won 19-16.

The Mountaineers are coming off a pair of victories last weekend. WVU improved to 2-0 in the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) with a 36-7 win over Bloomsburg and then went on to defeat No.24 Nebraska 31-20 last Sunday, January 20, at the Coliseum.

WVU features eight ranked wrestlers in its ten-man lineup, including three in the Top 10. Greg Jones is ranked third at 174, Tom McMath is sixth at 165 and Joe Carr is ninth at 157.

The Mountaineers will be back in action Friday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. against EWL rival Lock Haven at the Coliseum.
