Hokies Fall To #17 WVU, 28-13, In Wrestling

GRUNDY, Va. - The Virginia Tech wrestling team fell to No. 17 West Virginia, 28-13, Friday night at the Grundy High School Gymnasium in front of a sell-out crowd of over 1,500 fans.

Winning matches for the Hokies were No. 9 Sean Gray, No, 12 Chris Martin and No. 15 Eric Hall. Gray got the Hokies on the scoreboard at the 141-weight class with a 6-2 victory over WVU's Micah Kahn. Martin recorded a fall at 165, pinning Richard Taylor in 2:07. Hall recorded the remaining points with a 21-7 major decision over the Mountaineers' Erik Warg.

At the 184 weight class, No. 2-ranked Vertus Jones of WVU improved to 20-0 on the year by defeating No. 18-ranked and Grundy native Scott Justus of Tech, 16-6.

Tech (6-6, 1-4 EWL) returns to the road on Jan. 12, taking on Virginia at 1 p.m.
