WVU Prepares for Two

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The 9th-ranked West Virginia University wrestling squad (3-3, 2-0) will travel to Lock Haven (10-8, 1-2) for an Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) match on Friday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. The Mountaineers then return home to face Virginia Tech (0-10, 0-3) on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m., at the WVU Coliseum.

Lock Haven leads the all-time series with the Mountaineers 13-11, but West Virginia won last year's meeting 19-12. WVU holds a 10-6 series lead over Tech, including a 29-9 win last year in Blacksburg.

West Virginia, the only remaining unbeaten team in the EWL, features eight wrestlers ranked in the top 20 in the nation, including unbeaten Greg Jones ranked first in the nation at 174.

Billy Smith and Tom McMath are ranked seventh at 149 and 165, respectively, Ryan Wilman (184) are ranked 18th in the nation, Shane Cunanan is ranked 13th at 141 as is Brent Miller at heavyweight, Brandon Lauer is ranked 14th at 133 and Seth Lisa (125) is ranked 17th in the nation.
