OHIO DOWNS WVU 27-9

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (February 9, 2001) – West Virginia's wrestling team lost to Ohio, 27-9, in a non-conference matchup at the WVU Coliseum tonight.

The Mountaineers (4-6, 1-3) won just three matches on the evening, including heavyweight wrestler Ryan Kehler's team-leading 24th victory on the season. Kehler, ranked 6th in the nation, decisioned Ohio's Brad Bauer, 8-2.

The Bobcats (12-6, 1-2) opened the contest, which started at 133 pounds, with two straight victories, before WVU freshman Anthony Regalbuto decisioned Andy Reichenbach 8-6, at 149 pounds, to cut the lead to 7-3. Regalbuto is now 4-5 on the season. However, that was the closest the Mountaineers would get the rest of the evening.

Freshman Greg White, at 125 pounds, tallied his third victory of the season with a 6-4 decision over Mike Caruso.

West Virginia is back in action tomorrow, February 10, when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., to take on EWL foe Pitt, at 7:30 p.m., at Fitzgerald Fieldhouse.
