Pitt, Ohio on Tap

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The sixth-ranked West Virginia University wrestling squad (5-3, 4-0) will travel to Pitt (8-3, 4-1) for an Eastern Wrestling League match on Friday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m., before returning to the WVU Coliseum on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. for a non-conference matchup with Ohio (8-6).

Pitt leads the all-time series with West Virginia 27-19 but the Mountaineers blasted the Panthers 33-2 last year at the WVU Coliseum. The Panthers come into Friday's dual riding a seven-match winning streak. Bouts that feature ranked wrestlers from both teams will be at 125 (Pitt's No.13 Jordan Sianni vs. WVU's No.16 Seth Lisa), 149 (WVU's No.6 Billy Smith vs. Pitt's No.19 Justin Giovinco) and 174 (WVU's top-ranked Greg Jones vs. Pitt's No.13 Carl Fronhofer).

West Virginia leads the all-time series with Ohio, 27-12, including a 23-15 victory in Athens last season. The only bout that features ranked-wrestlers from both teams will be at 149 where Ohio's unbeaten and fourth-ranked Jake Percival will battle sixth-ranked Billy Smith.

The Mountaineers are ranked sixth in the most recent Intermawrestle.com poll, matching the highest-ranking in the program's history
