KEHLER, CARR LOSE IN NCAA CONSOLATION ROUNDS

IOWA CITY, IOWA (March 16, 2001) – West Virginia wrestlers Ryan Kehler and Joe Carr lost today in consolation round action at the NCAA tournament, at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Kehler, a Klingerstown, Pa., native was pinned by Oklahoma's Leonce Crump in 0:42 in the consolation quarterfinals. To get there, Kehler defeated Penn State's Bob Jones, 4-2, and pinned Oklahoma State's James Huml in 5:11.

Kehler finishes the season with a 30-8 mark, the best record ever recorded by a WVU heavyweight in a single season. With his 10th pin on the year, Kehler is now tied for second on WVU's all-time seasonal pins list and is in sole possession of seventh on the Mountaineers' all-time junior wins list.

Carr, a Lexington, Ky., native lost to N.C. State's Pierre Pryor 7-0 in the first round of consolations. The junior ends his season with a 21-8 mark.
