MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University wrestling team travels to Annapolis, Md., to take part in the annual Navy Classic on Saturday, Nov. 20.

“The Navy Classic is a nice progression after the WVU Open,” says head coach Craig Turnbull. “This tournament allows our guys another opportunity to wrestle and receive concrete feedback on where they are at. It is critical in our evaluation so that our guys can make the adjustments as the season continues.”

The Mountaineers produced three individual champions en route to a second-place team finish at last year’s Classic. Junior Matt Lebe will attempt to defend his tournament title from a year ago at 157 pounds.

Participating teams in this year’s Classic include Campbell, Duquesne, McDaniel, North Carolina State, Rutgers, Navy, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

The Mountaineers will travel without senior Greg Jones who will be making his third NWCA All-Star Classic appearance on Nov. 22. Two-time NCAA champion Jones will face Iowa All-American and No. 2 ranked Paul Bradley in the dual meet. The two grapplers met in the semifinals of the 2004 NCAA Championships with Jones earning an 8-3 decision.
