MORGANTOWN, W.Va. Junior wrestler Joe Carr returned two days ago from a 12-day tour with the NWCA All-Star team with an undefeated 4-0 record against some of the best wrestlers in Europe. Carr was the only member of the team to post an undefeated record.

The All-Star team, made up of the best Division I wrestlers in the nation, toured Bulgaria and Italy as part of the competition.

On May 29, Carr, a native of Lexington, Ky., defeated Bulgarian Husein Garazov 4-2, in Sofia, Bulgaria, for his first win. His second win came on May 30, when he defeated Bulgarian Miroslav Chochev, 4-3 in overtime, in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Carr pinned Bulgarian Angel Natsov in 1:30 on June 2, for his third victory. He completed his tour with a 3-0, overtime win over Giovanni Gilachi, June 4, in Milan, Italy.

As a team, the All-Stars finished 3-1 in dual meet competition against their European counterparts.

WVU's Zeke Jones was an assistant coach with the team.

This past season, Carr owned a 28-10 record, second-best on the team. He qualified for his second straight NCAA Tournament. He also won his first EWL tournament title and was first at the WVU Open, second in the Navy Classic and Great Plains Invitational and fourth in the Las Vegas Invitational.
