THOMPSON SET TO WRESTLE FOR WVU

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (July 11, 2002) - Adrian Thompson, a transfer from Howard, has enrolled at West Virginia University and will wrestle for the Mountaineers this season. Thompson, a heavyweight from Orlando, Fla., was a two-time NCAA qualifier at Howard and was 26-6 last season, including a victory over All-American Kevin Hoy of Air Force in the first round of the NCAA tournament. "We are very pleased to receive this commitment from such a successful athlete such as Adrian," head coach Craig Turnbull said. "He is an excellent student, an outstanding athlete and wonderful contributor to his community. "We believe Adrian has the ability to be an All-American and that he fills a missing component in our lineup that gives us the ability to continue our movement toward the NCAA elite."
