Cunanan, a native of Spokane, Wash., was a two-time PAC-10 runner-up and NCAA qualifier at 141 pounds while at Oregon State. Heading into this season, he is ranked 12th in the pre-season Intermatwrestle.com poll. He will have two years of eligibility left at WVU.
"Shane is a significant addition to the program," coach Turnbull says. "We really needed some experience to blend with our young talent and Shane provides us with that. He puts us in a position to accomplish some of our goals this season."
Cunanan joins a top recruiting class that was ranked 13th by Intermatwrestle.com in June.
