Pennesi Moves Up in Rankings, Three Others Remain Steady

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Dec. 19, 2012) – After his placement of third at this past weekend’s Reno Tournament of Champions, West Virginia University wrestling team member Nathan Pennesi moved up in multiple Division wrestling polls.

Pennesi (141) moved up to No. 14 in the Amateur Wrestling News’ poll and No. 18 in InterMat’s, Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine’s and WrestlingReport’s poll. For the season, Pennesi owns a 15-6 record.

In addition to Pennesi, three other Mountaineer grapplers are ranked.

Shane Young (125) is ranked No. 29 by WrestlingReport. Young, who made his return from injury on Sunday, sports a 5-1 ledger.

Colin Johnston (133), who sat out tournament action in Reno, is ranked No. 26 by WrestlingReport and has a 5-5 record this season.

Lance Bryson (184), who was also held out of the Reno Tournament of Champions, is ranked No. 23 by WrestlingReport and has an 8-5 record.

WVU (1-2, 0-0 Big 12) will return to action on Jan. 6, as it travels to Lock Haven for a dual meet.
