Overton Headed to Nationals, Wrestling AAC Runners-Up

WALESKA, Georgia -- Senior Bryan Overton wrestled to first place at 165 lbs. during the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship and WVU Tech is the conference runner-up. Host school, Reinhardt University, took the title with 131.5 team points while the Golden Bears scored 65.5 team points.

The Lead: Overton punched his ticket to the NAIA National Championship after defeating fellow Golden Bear senior Corey Palmer in the first place bout with a 2-0 decision.
Gold and Blue Highlights:
Overton is headed to nationals after winning at 165 lbs.
Palmer finished second at 165 lbs.
Senior Paul Gonzales took third place at 125 lbs.
Senior Tristan Bean wrestled at 133 lbs., finishing third overall.
Freshman Devin Wilhelm wrestled to a second place showing at 141 lbs.
Junior Robert Pritt grappled to a fourth place finish at 149 lbs.
Sophomore Will Van Hoose earned second place at 197 lbs.
Up Next: Overton will travel to Des Moines, Iowa to represent WVU Tech at 165 lbs. during the NAIA National Championship March 2-3.
