DANVILLE, Virginia -- The Golden Bear grapplers finished seventh out of 18 teams during the Cougar Open in Danville Sunday. WVU Tech was led by junior Logan Robertson who finished fourth at 133 lbs. after a tournament record of 4-2.
Robertson, who hails from Crawley, West Virginia, earned a fall over St. Andrew's Kevin Mitchell (2:36).
Sophomore Leslie Campbell also placed for the Gold and Blue, picking up a fifth place finish at 174 lbs. The White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia native finished 4-2 including two falls (1:50, 2:45).
Freshman Jacob Thomas also finished fifth in his weight class (184 lbs.) after a 4-2 day. Thomas, from Alderson, West Virginia, posted a fall over Ferrum's Pablo Zanistanavicius (6:27).
Golden Bears who also recorded points for Tech included freshman Mason Morris (133 lbs, 3-2), junior Devin Wilhelm (149 lbs., 3-2) and freshmen Clayton Ryan Stewart (157 lbs., 1-2) and Jacob Hefner (174 lbs., 2-2).
The squad will return to action Saturday, November 16 when they head to Lindsey Wilson College.
