Battlers Score Multiple Victories at Wheeling Quad

WHEELING, W.Va. - In round-robin action at Wheeling, Alderson Broaddus Wrestling squared off against host Wheeling, Davis & Elkins, and Notre Dame (Ohio). The Battlers had multiple wrestlers score multiple victories on Friday night.

In the first action on the night, the Battlers competed with host Wheeling and came away with four total victories out of the six contested matches.

Demetrius Daniels earned his first two victories of the night over Wheeling's Clarouly Meca (TB-3 (RT) 4-3)) and Bernell Bennett (MD 11-3) in the 285 pound weight class. Kourdell Todd also picked up a 4-1 decision against Bennett. Joshua Laubach collected his first win on the night over Wheeling's Normon Richmond in an injury forfeit.

Laubach added two more victories on the night with a 10-1 major decision and and a 10-1 decisions over wrestlers from Davis & Elkins.

On their second matchup of the night, the Battlers took on the Senators of Davis & Elkins. Todd added his second win on the night with a 2-1 decision over Charles Morrison of Davis & Elkins. Gino Sita, now ranked fifth in the 197 pound weight class by TheOpenMat.com, scored a technical fall over the Senators' Michael Schneider. Sita also collected a fall in 29 seconds over Joshua Sanders of the Senators. Daniels also had a 5-2 decision victory over Daimere Wilson-Turner for the Battlers, earning a third win on the night. Jamar Williams picked up a win in his lone match with a 9-8 decision over Noah Tarr, who qualified for the 2020 NCAA DII Championships at 165 pounds.

In their final action of the night, AB took on the Falcons of Notre Dame. Sita collected his third win on the night and went to 5-0 on the season with a 9-4 decision against Mike Viramontes of Notre Dame.

Alderson Broaddus returns to the mat Saturday, January 23rd as they travel to Glenville State and take on host Glenville, Fairmont State, and Wheeling.
