USA Wrestling is recognized as the governing body for wrestling nationally and internationally. It is through USA Wrestling that athletes may compete at the World Championships, the Olympics and in all events against foreign nations. USA Wrestling puts on the U.S. Nationals, and all the age group nationals (University, Espoir, Junior, Cadet, Kids).

USA Wrestling in West Virginia is represented by State USA Wrestling state chairman Bill Archer of Huntington. The USA Wrestling national team of West Virginia is coached by Robbie Archer of Huntington. For membership information/requests contact:

The West Virginia National team has a qualifying tournament in March or April with the national training camp held ten days before the Cadet and Junior Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota.

The terms "Cadet" and "Junior" refer to the ages of the participants and goes by year of birth. Cadet generally includes wrestlers age 13-15, while Junior generally includes wrestlers under age 19 and enrolled in grades 9-12.

There have been several WV wrestlers place at Cadet and Junior Nationals.
